What is the difference between markup and margin?
Markup and margin are not the same thing. Confusing them is one of the most common pricing mistakes in the promotional products industry.
Key difference
Markup is the percentage added to your cost. Margin is the percentage of the selling price that is profit. A 100% markup gives you a 50% margin. They are different numbers for the same transaction.
